I am in our late twenties.
Since I have no children or family, and have been “in between” wives for several weeks, its means that I often get stuck with a lot of the extra labor that comes up at the local company.
The other HVAC techs all have families, so they don’t want to take an emergency natural gas furnace service at 4AM, nor do they want to labor on holidays, however late shifts, on-call work, and holiday bonuses are all undoubtedly lucrative, which is why I like to take as many shifts as possible. The Heating as well as Air Conditioning company has something called the “shift differential” which adds on a particular percentage to your spend money depending on when you come to work! Working at midnight pays better than laboring at noon. Taking a natural gas furnace service emergency on Halloween pays better than a normal Saturday night, then does the pay scale make sense? Basically our approach is to take all the shifts that none of the other Heating as well as Air Conditioning experts want to work, and make more money because of it… If I had a family or an active social life it would suck, but for a loner it’s the easiest way to make the most money from heating and cooling repair. I must admit that Halloween is a truly fantastic night to do emergency Heating as well as Air Conditioning repairs, because usually the customers are already quite drunk when I get there. I went to a Halloween celebration to get their natural gas and oil furnace on again, and I had so much fun I stayed there to hang out after the task was done, and I still made double because of the shift differential.
