My daughter wanted a shipping container home.

I thought my daughter was crazy when she bought the shipping container.

It was unsightly and I couldn’t figure out what she was going to do with it. She put it on the land that bordered ours, and asked what we thought of her new home. I stood there and stared at it, while thinking she was going crazy. She told me that in a few months the house would be beautiful and you would never know it was once an old shipping container. Over the next month, we heard saws going and metal cracking as the workers converted the old shipping container into a home. There were cutouts for the doors and windows, but I was wondering what they would do that would make the inside look like a home. Right before Christmas, her shipping container home was completed and I got take a tour. There was a full bathroom, a utility kitchen with a small dining room table, and a small living room. Spare beds were hidden in the sofa and chair, and all of her small appliances were tucked away in cupboards and hidden storage spaces. The bedroom was small, but there were drawers under the bed, and closet space between the wall and the bathroom. She had room for a queen-sized bed. I thought her shipping container home was going to be tiny, but it is perfect for one and maybe two people. I was so pleased with the look of her shipping container home. I told my husband if we ever decided to downgrade, I was going to look into buying an old shipping container, and turning it into a small shipping container home.
