As I was tucking my daughter into bed the other night, I realized how warm it was in her room! My hubby and I have a bedroom on the first floor, so my associate and I don’t often realize how overheated it gets in her room, then i forget how heat rises because I’m not the one sleeping on the second floor.
I turned the thermostat down a few degrees on the thermostat, however then it was too cold in our room, then the drop in temperature didn’t even affect our daughter’s room, then when I brought it up with my hubby, my associate and I agreed to brainstorm ideas.
My friend and I wanted to cool our daughter’s room on the second floor, however my associate and I didn’t know the best way to do it. My hubby called the local HVAC supplier and asked them for their opinion. They gave us two options, first, they recommended adding a ductless mini system into her bedroom. This was the cheapest way to cool her room without affecting the rest of the house. The ductless machine was a standalone machine that attached to the wall and switched on and off with a small remote. The more luxurious option was to add another zone to our dwelling by adding an additional thermostat to the second floor. My friend and I could set the thermostat to a different temperature for the entire second floor, however it would be a part of our central HVAC plan, and after carefully considering both options, my associate and I decided to install the zone control. It would increase the value of our dwelling and keep the entire second floor at a sufficient temperature. My friend and I planned on having kids in the future and my associate and I didn’t want to add more ductless mini systems into each bedroom.
