My sister, Kora, and I recently moved to a new area. Since neither of us are married yet, we decided to rent and apartment together to save on living expenses. We really like our new apartment on the eastern coast. We actually decided to move because of an amazing job offer for Kora. It has been really great to be able to live near the beach. We practically live on the water. We hadn’t had any issues with our new apartment until last week. I walked over to the couch in the living room and realized that the floor was sopping wet. Because of the water, the laminate floor had started to swell and deform. At first, I couldn’t figure out where the water was coming from. I wiped up the water and told my sister about it. It only took her a seconds to figure out the cause of the water, and it was the air conditioner in the window. For some reason, it was dripping water like crazy onto the floor under it. One of our friends who lived only a couple miles away from us is an an HVAC technician, so we called him and asked why it was leaking. He came over and was able to figure out what was wrong with the air conditioner, but Kora and I still had to tell our landlord about the ruined floor. Thankfully, he was very kind and said that he had some extra flooring and that he would replace it for us. It’s crazy how something as wonderful as an air conditioner could do so much damage to our apartment.
