During my formative years our nation entered the most recent economic depression, & as you can imagine, my outlook on the world was deeply affected by the financial state of the country.
I grew up feeling like I would be fortunate to get any task, let alone to enter a fulfilling job.
I never expected to be well paid or well compensated with benefits. I easily consistently felt like tasks were temporary & actually lost when times were bad. That’s how I developed a particular fear of working for small businesses. It consistently seemed more secure to labor for a giant supplier in my experience. These days, however, I am working for a tiny Heating & A/C supplier in town. I found the position with the ventilation contractor on accident as I was searching for a reputable heating & cooling supplier to maintenance our own AC one afternoon. The nearest heating & cooling contractor had a task posting on their website that featured an opening in the supplier office of the maintenance shop. Within two weeks I was working for the little ventilation supplier with fantastic trepidation, waiting for the economy to collapse & my butt to be homeless. However, that never happened. It’s been over 5 years so far, & I am now the greatest boss at the little Heating & A/C maintenance business. My pal and I have tripled in size over the past few years, & I direct over 25 individual ventilation workers each afternoon! Rather than losing my task & my shirt thanks to a failed small business, I have been instrumental in growing this miniscule heating & cooling maintenance shop into a bustling & renowned ventilation business. I’ve acquired more through hands-on learning in the exotic Heating & A/C industry than I ever could have learned at a major corporation.
