Most people I know take decent care of their car.
Now, I’m not saying that they are all clean and pretty all the time.
But by and large, the folks I know maintain their cars. I mean, it’s stupid not to right? Oil has to be changed, cabin air filters have to be replaced and the list goes on. None of us like paying for this sort of car maintenance. But we do it because it’s protecting an investment of thousand of dollars we’ve made in our vehicles. So why don’t we take the same view of our HVAC equipment. I know that my wife and I invested thousands of dollars in new residential HVAC just a few years ago. The house we bought was one where where we inherited the HVAC equipment as part of the deal. It was good enough when it came to the heating and cooling we needed but it was nothing special. Still, we provided that HVAC equipment with regular, seasonal maintenance. Once we got the new HVAC with all this HVAC technology, we even joined the HVAC service plan. I don’t want to take a chance of missing a single heating maintenance in the fall or an air conditioning tune up in the spring. I seem to be one of the few people I know who really puts their money where their mouth is when it comes to the HVAC equipment. I find that so strange because next perhaps our cars, I’m not sure we invest in equipment that’s this expensive. While we have homeowners insurance that would cover tragedies, it doesn’t mean it covers the longevity of the heating and cooling equipment. HVAC maintenance is just so essential because it’s just so valuable when it comes to protecting a big investment.
