It feels like I’m constantly getting distracted and thrown off course, regardless of whether or not I’m at work or I’m just getting my chores and errands completed each day while I’m off work.
I forgot my donut when I was grabbing my coffee this morning from the coffee shop and it made me more frustrated than I thought I could get over something as small as a donut.
The other day I forgot to call my daughter’s school to get her absence approved on a morning when she stayed home sick. The school administrative offices are extremely strict about this sort of thing, and it’s my daughter who suffers the tongue lashing when she returns to school with an “unforgiven absence.” I end up calling the pediatrician and getting a note so I can put it where the son doesn’t shine with the nastiest person in the school’s administration who I have to put up with on the phone. My forgetfulness affects the whole household sometimes, especially when I recently forgot to change the air conditioner filter for over six months. It’s autumn and I hadn’t changed the a/c filter since the beginning of the summer. As this is the peak time for air conditioner use, that’s a lot of wear and tear on the HVAC system from a clogged filter. Needless to say, the filter was stuffed full of dust and dirt when I finally pulled it from the air handler. The new filter looked drastically different in its white hues compared to the yellowish brown dust coating the old one. To no one’s surprise, the a/c felt cooler and stronger as soon as we turned the system back on with the new filter inside.
