First-time residential HVAC modernization

It would be like saying soccer requires some running to say my wife’s mother is stubborn. If you’re not the goalie, all you really do in soccer is run. And my in-laws are definitely not goalies. She is the type who has always lived life on her own terms and only her own terms. My upbringing was urban. I shared a room with my brother in the three-bedroom apartment where my family lived. We weren’t wealthy, but we had everything we needed. Additionally, we had more heating needs than we could handle in that apartment. Radiant heating was available in that apartment, and it could be turned on or off. There was no gray area. As a result, we spent the entire winter learning how to perfectly crack windows in key locations. On the other hand, my wife grew up in a very rural area. She possessed absolutely no contemporary residential HVAC. Throughout the winter, they used a wood stove to heat their modest home. However, they did not have air conditioning; instead, they relied solely on fans to keep cool during the summer. We have been together for more than 25 years after meeting in college. Recently, we had to bribe her mother into allowing us to install some contemporary HVAC equipment in her house. She has significantly slowed down physically but is still fiercely independent. The wood stove is no longer practical even though it still offers plenty of heating. Fortunately, we were able to convince her to change her mind, and she agreed to allow the HVAC specialists to install two ductless heat pumps there. She now has access to high-quality heating and air.
