It’s been quite the career and I’m so happy that I had the opportunity to sort of ride that job wave for as long as I did.
- Working in the resort world has been quite a ride indeed.
In fact, this is the first time in 25 years that I’ve been inside the commercial HVAC of a proper office. For years, I’ve worked out of tiny spaces that were carved out for work space. Hotels and resorts are notorious for never really having proper offices. Although there are general managers and sales guys that enjoyed air conditioning from commercial HVAC inside all day. For me, I was outside of the air conditioning most of the time. I have always been a hands on manager. Primarily, my focus was the outside of the hotels. Whether that was restaurants, pools, recreation programs or special events, I was outside working them. So it really is quite different to be inside the commercial HVAC of an office. Recently, I was promoted to run a new department in our corporate offices. It’s definitely a change given what I have been doing for the last 25 years. Yet, I do like the regular schedule and having a nice office is cool too. There is even zone controlled HVAC in this place. I have a thermostat that is right outside my office door. It’s a far cry from running around in subtropical temperatures trying to take care of our guests. But again, I’m looking forward to the new challenges. And for me, the air conditioning sure doesn’t hurt.
