Flying again with HEPA filters

It’s not as bad as I was thinking it would be! Still, I’m not all that into flying commercially any longer.

  • When it was comfortable, and more reliable, I lived flying.

But for the last couple of decades, flying has been anything but enjoyable, so I didn’t miss it when I was stuck inside the central air conditioning of home, in the pandemic. My company shut down our offices, with commercial HVAC, and sent us home to work. Then, I was grounded and had to crank the quality up the heating or cooling in my car, in order to get out and work with our purchasers. But, while driving around to purchasers took a bit more effort, it really was pleasurable. I didn’t hate it. So that’s why I chose to drive to meet with purchasers. Heavy traffic could happen, but the trips are never abruptly canceled. And the air conditioner in my car is always good, and that’s not true for most of the flights I’ve been on. Unfortunately, flying has resumed. Lack of quality heating and cooling was the first thing I noticed when I stepped onto a plane. I just felt packed in, with not enough air conditioning. However, I was glad to know that there were HEPA filters on the plane. At least that was there. HEPA filters remove more than 99-percent of all airborne contaminants. So, at least the air quality of our flight had improved since I last boarded a flight for business.
