For the past week I’ve noticed that every time I walk into my house I’ve been feeling sick.
For a while I was thinking that it was just allergies but then I started connecting the dots that I only started to feel this way when I walked into my house and I didn’t feel this way when I was outside.
I thought that maybe it was just because my air filter hasn’t been changed, I hadn’t used a HEPA filter in quite a while and those are really good at keeping my indoor air quality clean. The times when I haven’t used them I’ve had issues with my allergies acting up and so I put in a new HEPA filter thinking that would take care of the issue. However, I found that even when I was over at a friend’s house or at my family’s place I was no longer having symptoms. It didn’t make any sense to me. I couldn’t understand why even with the HEPA filter, I was having these symptoms. I was beginning to think that I was going to need to make an appointment with my doctor, but then I decided to go ahead and try one more thing first. I hadn’t checked on my air ducts in a while and so I decided to schedule an appointment with a local heating and AC business and have them come out and take a look at it. I wanted to see if it was something that could be in the HVAC that was causing it. When the heating and cooling worker came out of here he took one look at my heat and AC air ducts and he told me that I had mold in there. I was shocked and horrified at the same time! I had been breathing in mold spores this entire time, no wonder I was feeling so sick. I had the air ducts cleaned very thoroughly and I stayed out of my house for a week before returning. Once I returned everything was back to normal and I could live in my house once again.
