He was going to spend his own money for a new roof.

Since the police already knew what happened, they wrote our kid up for the detriment and setting off fireworks within the town’s limits, which was a definite no-no

My kid Sam doesn’t feel he should be held responsible when he ‘accidentally’ does detriment to the house. Sam thinks that since he lives with us, my friend and I should spend my money for everything. Last year, my fiance and I were on the shore on the 4th of June. Sam, being twenty-five, should have been capable of staying home alone. Sam wasn’t a teenager, and my friend and I thought he could be an adult. My friend and I were wrong. Sam invited a bunch of people to our house, and they set off fireworks. No one was seeing where they were landing after going off in the air, however my friend and I knew right where they landed. Our acquaintance and best friends called to tell us the fire truck was at our house. The fireworks landed on the roof of the property and set the shingles on fire. Luckily, the neighbors had all our information and called us immediately. I called Sam and told him to call the insurance corporation, however he waited until my friend and I got home. I had to get a new roof on the house, and he was fortunate the fire corporation was only two blocks away, or the entire property would have burned down. I told Sam he was going to spend my money for the new roof. Sam insisted the insurance corporation would spend my money for the roof, however I shook my head. The insurance corporation was going to sue Sam for the detriment if it was up to me. Sam should have been more careful. Since the police already knew what happened, they wrote our kid up for the detriment and setting off fireworks within the town’s limits, which was a definite no-no. Sam couldn’t believe my friend and I were going to make him reimburse the insurance corporation for the whole roof.
