My daughter went to school for marketing.

When I sent my daughter to school, I didn’t know what she was going to major in.

I didn’t know that before she graduated I was going to be the owner of a thriving HVAC company.

When my boss came to me and offered me the HVAC company, I was overwhelmed. He showed me how to run the business, and told me he would help me make it my own. I bought the business so he could retire. I got it for a good price as long as I let him work for me a couple of times a month. The only thing I had to change was the information on the website. I had to let people know there was new ownership, but the HVAC company would continue to run under the same principles, and the same HVAC technicians. I changed the name to Shaffer’s HVAC, hoping my son or daughter would someday join me in the business. My daughter graduated from college with a degree in marketing, three months after the HVAC company had officially become mine. When she got home, she started looking for a job. I asked her if she could take me on as her first client. I told her I wanted to change up the website and make it more modern. I also wanted to do some online marketing. She was smiling from ear to ear and gave me ideas for marketing the HVAC company, which all sounded good. She then reminded me she expected to be paid since I was her client. I asked what her going rate was, and then I reminded her I was her father.
