Recently, I bought a cabin somewhere remote in the mountains.
Many people in my life say I am running away from the real world.
But, I choose to see it as a chance to live the life I’ve always wanted to live. The city is a great place to be, but my body was rejecting the craziness of it all. Things got so bad that I became depressed and was hospitalized for some time. When I was at the hospital, I began thinking about my life and that’s when I decided I wanted to change it. I did some research and found a lovely cabin community about four hours from the city. There was a cabin for sale, but it was a fixer upper, so I had to commit to doing the work. Since I can work remotely, that wasn’t going to be an issue. Some of the issues with the cabin included deck repair since the deck was falling apart. The previous owner had deck installation done decades ago, and it was time for repair, or to go with a new one. Next, the windows in the cabin weren’t fit for winter. You need excellent insulation to survive winter in this part of the world, so I had to seek a window replacement company in the area. Someone I was becoming friends with pointed me in the right direction for window replacement. I had to ensure the company could work on all the windows before winter and ensure maximum insulation. I opted to wait until spring for deck repair since the windows were more urgent.
