Mild weather and turning off the furnace

This past weekend my boyfriend and I went snowboarding.

We go to a ski resort that is about 45 minutes away from our home.

It is nice where we live in the Northeast region of the United States because we are very close to the city but we live in the country. We live in a mountainous region that allows us to enjoy a lot of outdoor activities. Snowboarding is one of them especially in the winter. The mountain was really nice because the temperature was around 45 degrees but there was still snow on the ground. The conditions weren’t as good, but the snow did its job. It was great because when we went inside of the lodge we weren’t freezing. It also saved the resort money because they didn’t have heat blasting during the whole weekend. Once we got home we realized that at our thermostat read 70 degrees. We had our thermostat set to 67 degrees, so we turned our thermostat off because there was no need to run heat when it was almost 60 degrees outside. It was nice because on our way home from snowboarding we even put our windows down. The fresh air felt good and so did the Sun that was beating on our faces, it felt like a spring day. This winter has been great because we have saved a lot of money in heating our home. We used to buy pellets and ran our pellet stove during the winter, however oil prices are very cheap so we prefer to run our furnace more than our pellet stove.
