When I began talking to this guy that I met through a group of friends, I had no idea that he had a crazy obsession with heat and air systems.
He seemed really friendly and personable when we first met, but his obsession with heating and air slowly became more evident the more we communicated.
He was an HVAC technician, so his entire day revolved around HVAC systems. I thought this was fascinating because I’d never met someone who was an HVAC technician before, so I asked him a few questions about his career out of curiosity. In the beginning, I took his knowledge and passion for heat and air as a sign that he really loved his job. I thought this was a great quality. However, when I invited him over to my house one evening, he wouldn’t stop talking about HVAC systems. He spoke about random homeowners and their HVAC horror stories and he began explaining the intricate details of HVAC repairs. Of course I didn’t know much about HVAC systems, so I smiled and acted like I knew what he was talking about. After 45 minutes of him talking non-stop about HVAC systems, he asked if he could look at my HVAC system. I thought he was joking, but unfortunately, he was not. He looked at the condenser unit, the air filter, the coils, and the ductwork. After 2 hours of nothing but HVAC talk, I asked him to leave. To this day, I get flashbacks when the HVAC professional comes to my house and talks to me about my HVAC system.
