I’ve always been fairly handy when it comes to doing stuff around the house.
I got a lot of my do it yourself education from my old man.
My dad was the sort of guy that came home from the commercial HVAC of the office only to get right after whatever hobby or project he had going. My dad was a tinkering fool. He was not the sort of guy to kick back in the air conditioning with a six pack of suds and get fat. No my dad was out of the air conditioning as soon as he shucked his suit for a pair of coveralls. When he died, I suggested that he be buried in those coveralls but was voted down. So you get the picture when it comes to who I grew up with and all I learned from my dad. There wasn’t much that my dad couldn’t fix. But along with everything I learned about how to fix stuff around the house, I also learned there are limits. My dad was very clear about certain things. Don’t be afraid of a home project but also know your limitations. The residential HVAC wasn’t touched by anyone but a certified HVAC technician. So if it was good enough for my dad, it’s good enough for me. I was lucky to find a great HVAC contractor from a good local company when I moved to this town. The house we bought needed new HVAC equipment and that’s how I got hooked up with these great HVAC professionals. Since then, we’ve always gotten the HVAC maintenance done seasonally in order to have the most efficient and long lasting HVAC equipment. The quality heating and air has been flawless but I know just who to call if there is ever an issue.
