My grandparents are quite a pair.
They both think they know everything, and have no problem telling people when they are wrong. Last week, my grandparents fired the HVAC technician. Grandpa called the HVAC company and tell them they didn’t want him coming to the house anymore, and he needed to be fired. The HVAC technician hadn’t yet finished repairing the furnace and grandma was taking her cane to him. She told him to get out of her house and never come back. Grandma called mom and was screaming for help, so mom went over to the house. The HVAC technician was in the corner of the furnace room trying to keep away from her. Mom told gran to get out of the furnace room and let her take care of the problem. She asked mom what was happening, and she told her the HVAC technician showed up before she could get her teeth in. Mom knew gran didn’t put her teeth in unless it was absolutely necessary, and asked why the HVAC upset her so much. She repeated about and her teeth, but mom wasn’t getting it. She wanted him out of the house before he laughed at her. Pop was upset because grandma was upset. Mom finally calmed both of them down and got the HVAC technician out of the furnace room. She asked if he had repaired the furnace? He nodded while keeping his distance and making his way to the door. The next day, mom was on the phone to the doctor. It was time for them to give up housekeeping and either get an apartment in a senior living center, or move into the in-law apartment she and dad had already built for them.
