He thought the HVAC technician was lying.

My husband was really upset when the HVAC technician came to the house last week. He was in the basement for almost an hour and then he told us we needed a new furnace. Dad was certain there was no need for a new furnace. He didn’t let the HVAC technician finish what he was saying about a broken component. When dad started getting upset, I told him to relax and let the man finish what he was saying. The HVAC technician told him it was a cracked heat exchanger. When the heat exchanger was cracked, the byproducts that could be released were deadly. It could release formaldehyde, or carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide was odorless, tasteless, and colorless. The formaldehyde could make you really sick, but carbon monoxide can kill you without you knowing it is in the air. You simply go to sleep and never wake up. Dad settled down and apologized to the HVAC technician. He asked if it could be repaired, and the HVAC technician told us it would cost nearly as much as replacing the furnace, but it wasn’t guaranteed. That’s why he suggested we get a new furnace. Dad agreed and made a phone call to my mom. He asked if I could come live with her until the furnace replaced, and mom even offered to let him come to her house. It was like old times when we were all in the house together. Mom and dad were talking like they did before the divorce, and we had a great time, but when the furnace was finally installed, we went back to our homes, and things went back to normal.
