It’s so interesting how things work out in this life.
I’m now the owner of a hunting lodge that I visited with my childhood friend when I was in elementary school.
My old friend rang me up one evening while I was just hanging out in the central air conditioning of my house. I’ve actually done pretty well for myself and have a pretty nice place with the latest in HVAC and HVAC technology. And it’s one of those places I really do like to just be. So I was sort of stunned when this guy called me up out of the blue. I hadn’t spoken with him in probably twenty five years or more. But it turns out that the hunting lodge his family had owned ended up being willed to somebody else when this guy’s dad died. So he wanted to see if maybe I would like to buy it because he wanted it to be appreciated and taken care of. I could tell even sitting inside the central air conditioning of my home that this guy really was sincere. It wasn’t just someone wanting me to spend money to help them out. So I ended up checking into it and it really was a steal at that price given how lovely a setting this lodge was on. I bought it, and it was apparent that we would have to pretty much gut the inside and do some structural work as well. But I found some local folks and a great HVAC contractor who made short work of all the renovations. We didn’t need anything fancy, just livable. For the heating and cooling comfort we turned to a pair of ductless heat pumps. They work out terrific and are super efficient. I love this spot.
