Christmas comes with lots of heating from the gas furnace

We’re now on a countdown. It’s official as I can see my wife making her lists and assuming command of our bunch as we ready to travel for Christmas. We won’t be getting on a plane where they have now installed HEPA filters to improve the air quality and lessen viral transmissions. Nope, we’ll be getting in the car and heading down the road. The very first part of the trip might even come with some air conditioning as it’s supposed to be in the seventies the day we leave. I can assure you that by the time we reach our destination the heating will be pumping in our car. This is because we travel almost due north for Christmas each year. I’m from the south and met my wife when we were in college down here. But she’s from way up north and we always do Christmas with her parents up there. I don’t really mind it as much but the kids are starting to get a bit too old to spend a week at Grandma and Grandpa’s. So we have whittled the stay down to four days and that makes it a whole lot easier to handle. But I still don’t really enjoy how hot it is inside the house at my wife’s parents. They have a gas furnace that must cost them a fortune to run. That’s because the thermostat setting is pegged at near 80 all the time. Well, I guess I’d be upset if it was cold in their house. So I guess I really shouldn’t complain but man it’s freezing on the outside with way too much heating from the HVAC on the inside for four full days.
